Election Test
To get elected in today’s poliatical enviornment it takes a person that is convincing, good speaches, people friendly and strong feelings. The elections in my opinion are not truly democratic because there are many flaws that candidates do or say to attract people in voting for them. The candidates often use strategies beyond the lines of “Democratic”. Jeph Smith was doing everything he possible could to win including calling houses himself and going around the neighborhood door-to-door. The guy Smith was battling against posted a false rumor about Smith and another female. He said that they were sleeping together and in an election form this is truly not democratic. Soft money is money given usually once to campaigne parties for purposes other then supporting the federal office. In Jeph smiths election he received soft money from people that wanted him to win really bad. Soft money is often used as a way to help fund the candidate because someone likes what he is doing. Soft money is not completely democratic because in a way it can be bribary but the candidates need some funding to campaigne to their fullest potential. Hard money is a campaigne finance that is used for the Federal, State and local government that is repetitive. This is democratic because all candidates need funds in-order to campaigne and without it the citizens would know very little about them. Media bias is a way in which journalists an news producers favor a certain political party or group. In my opinion this is somewhat democratic because news stations are entitled to their own opinion and should be allowed to express it however they would like. However, there is a point at which a line is drawn so as long as the news producers keep it respectable towards both political parties it is fine. Political action committees are reason to show that the elections are not democratic. A political action committee is a private group that helps finance and funnel donations to the candidate who are likely to support their various issues. This is not democratic because instead of standing by what you believe in as a candidate, you are also trying to attract the people with the most money so they will donate to you. So instead of paying attention to the poor the candidates may favor the rich to receive funding. Voter turnout is the percentage of eligible voters who cast a ballet in an election. This is democratic because the elections would not be good if the whole country voted because not everyone would have a legit understanding about politics and what each candidate stands by. If everyone had to vote there would be a lot of uninteligent voters. Political parties are political organizations that seek to attain and maintain political power within the government. This is democratic because it is a way to try to share the power and maintain political control.

So does money and media have an overt influence over the political process though? Further analysis is needed on that topic.
